What waits in the woods and water

Albert Key is a bestselling novelist from the Gulf Coast of Alabama. He knows the woods and water of the South, the river swamps, the marsh, the hunting camps at the end of dirt roads. In these books, he writes about what waits in them.

His stories start small: a rainy weekend in a half-empty fishing town, a stand of bamboo where it shouldn’t be, a house too fine for the street it sits on. Then he asks what if, and keeps asking until the answer is something you wish you hadn’t read.
